Telegram has successfully raised $1.5 billion through a bond issuance, attracting major investors like BlackRock, Mubadala, and Citadel. The five-year bonds offer a 9% yield and include an option for equity conversion should the company go public. This MOVE allows Telegram to address its existing debt, including $400 million already repurchased from its 2021 bonds.
In a parallel development, Telegram has entered a strategic partnership with xAI, Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence venture. The collaboration will integrate Grok, xAI’s chatbot, into Telegram’s platform, featuring a revenue-sharing model. This alliance marks a significant step in blending messaging with advanced AI capabilities.
